Obituary of Rebecca June Helmbrecht

Rebecca June Helmbrecht passed away from lung complications on March 8, 2017. Becky was born on October 25, 1940 in Nashville, Tennessee to parents Berry and Inez Fields. The family moved to Rochester, MN in 1945 where Becky graduated from High School in 1958. She graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in 1961. After graduating from nursing school she was admitted to St. Mary's as a patient after being diagnosed with bone cancer. Becky has always had a strong faith and contributes that faith to her survival of cancer when she was given a very low chance of survival. She met her husband Lee at a District Youth Rally when she was freshman in High School. They later reconnected when Becky became Lee's Grandfather's nurse. They were married Oct. 12, 1963. In December of 1964 Becky beat lung cancer and has been cancer free ever since.She has been active in the church her entire life while staying busy at home taking care of Lee and their two kids.She is preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Ken.She is survived by her husband Lee, son Mike, and daughter Vicki (Hoyt), brother Don (JoAnn) and three grandchildren. Visitation, 1:00PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 with the service at 2:00 followed by coffee and cake at Central United Methodist Church.Memorials can be sent to Central United Methodist Church at 4373 Galley Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80915.
