Obituary of Blanche Naomi Campbell

Blanche Naomi Campbell, one hundred years old, beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away April 11, 2017 in Fredericksburg, TX. She was born in Tallapoosa, GA on July 29, 1916. She graduated from West Georgia College in 1938 and earned a teaching certificate, then went on to teach 2nd grade for several years. She was married on June 19, 1940 to William B. Campbell of Carrollton, GA, who later attained the rank of Major General in the United States Air Force. Mrs. Campbell was very active in military affairs including the Officer Wives Club, Gardening Clubs, Welcoming Committees and many other volunteer organizations. She was a very gracious hostess both at home and at military functions, as well as a wonderful cook. Many people affectionately referred to her as "The First Lady." She was poised, reserved, and dignified.Blanche spent the last 20 years living at The Towers in San Antonio, TX where she had many friends and was well known for her good nature and helpfulness welcoming new residents to the Towers. In December of 2016, she relocated to Fredericksburg, TX and resided at CelesteCare.She is survived by her three sons; Bill Campbell, Jr. of Denton, TX, Jim Campbell of Everett, WA and Bob Campbell of Fredericksburg, TX. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Bill III, Heather, James, Kristy, Rob, Austin, Brad and three great grandchildren Blake, Braedan, and Keaton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Campbell and two siblings G.B. Evans, Jr. and Jack Evans of Tallapoosa, GA.Mrs. Campbell will be buried next to her husband at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado at a private family service the morning of Friday, April 28th.
