Obituary of Barbara Ann Salamon
Barbara Ann Salamon, age 85, passed away peacefully at home in Manitou Springs April 24, 2017. Born February 3, 1932 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Bocovich; husband, George Salamon; siblings, Frank, Ed, and Paul Bocovich; and son, Thomas E. Salamon. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Anne (David) Cise of Herriman, Utah; daughter-in-law, Carol Lynn Salamon of Manitou Springs; two grandchildren, Christine (Donald) Billings of Castle Rock, and Thomas M. Salamon of Manitou Springs; and four great-grandchildren, Alexander, Catelyn, and Zachary Billings, and Averi Salamon. Barbara, a lifelong Colorado resident, graduated in 1950 from Colorado Springs High School (Palmer) and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loretto Heights College in 1954. Barbara served her local community hospitals and nursing homes, and traveled to rural communities providing nursing services.Barbara's green thumb was evident at an early age, winning the 1944 National Victory Garden Institute "Green Thumb Award". To this day, her home is full of beautiful plants. Barbara lived an active life as a mother, volleyball coach, Girl Scout Leader, square dancer, and a member of the Broadmoor Waltz Club. A devout Catholic, she volunteered as a Proclaimer and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Known to her great-grandchildren as Great Grandma-ma, her famous toffee and perfectly crisp apple pies will be missed by all. Visitation, 5:00PM-7:00PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00PM, Friday, May 5, 2017 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
