Obituary of Rodney Brown Stanley

Rodney Brown Stanley, 65, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died on May 15, 2017 at 8:04PM in Colorado Springs.Rodney was born on March 25, 1952 in Highland, Illinois to James Rudolph and Martha Rose (Long) Stanley. He was the youngest of nine children and grew up on a farm in Marine, Illinois. He excelled at sports and lettered in football, basketball, and track in high school. He graduated from Triad High School in 1970, and was voted "most funny" his senior year.On May 31, 1975, Rodney married his beautiful wife, Paula, in Hastings, Nebraska. They have three children and nine grandchildren.Rodney joined the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and served in support of Desert Shield/Storm. He did a tour in Okinawa, Japan from 1980-1983, as well as a tour in Thule, Greenland from 1985-1986. He retired in 1994, having received several commendations in his twenty-two-year career.After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Rodney worked for the U.S. Government, serving as a Civil Servant Logistics Manager at Peterson Air Force Base.He loved spending time with his family, including his nine grandchildren.
