Obituary of Scott Justin Leahy
Scott Justin Leahy, age 40, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after a brave five-year battle with cancer. He was born October 14, 1976, in Omaha, Nebraska, to James and Marjorie (Cartella) Leahy. He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Jami (Nelson); three sons, Luke, Reid and Grant; mother, Marjorie (Ted) Keary; brother, Paul (Juli) Leahy; nephews, Sawyer and Stratton; brother, Eric (Charity) Leahy; and nephew, Hudson. He is preceded in death by his father James D. Leahy. Scott will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends.Scott was a 1995 graduate of Rockhurst High School (Kansas City, Missouri) and an Eagle Scout. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University (1999) and a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (2004). During his career, he worked for Motorola for eight years and RT Logic for the past nine years. Scott truly lived life to the fullest through outdoor adventures, his lifelong love of Kansas City Royals baseball, coaching his boys' sports teams, serving Cub Scouts as Pack 94 Cubmaster, and devoting time to family and friends. His character and kindness will long be respected by all who knew him.A Visitation will be held on 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 North Jefferson Street, Monument, Colorado 80132. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in memory of Scott, 10:00AM, Saturday, May 27, 2017 also at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 North Jefferson Street. Burial to immediately follow at Monument Cemetery, 800 Beacon Lite Road, Monument, Colorado 80132. A gathering will follow that at Jaeger Hall at St. Peter Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Scott may be made to:Educational Fund – A fund has been established to provide for the educational needs of Scott's three sons, Luke, Reid and Grant.
