Obituary of Patricia Mae Stephenson

Patricia Mae Stephenson (or Pat, Patty, or Patsy depending on who you talk to) went to be with our Lord Jesus, the sweet lover of her soul, on a glorious Monday morning, May 22, 2017, surrounded by her daughters; her sister, Judy; and a son-in-law. Many others surrounded the family in prayer. While lung cancer took her life, Jesus took her soul. Patricia was born in Denver, Colorado on January 29, 1941 to Marvin and Helen Johnston, and her sister, Judy, followed five years later. She met the love of her life, Ronald Stephenson, at West High School in Denver when she was only fifteen years old, and they never looked back. Just out of high school, she and Ronnie married and began a life of their own. She used to chuckle that she didn't even know how to boil water when she walked down the aisle. They were overjoyed to be married; they tried for four years to get pregnant before suddenly finding themselves with four children in five years. After their children were grown, Patty and Ronnie retired and moved to a beautiful home on the Lake of the Ozarks that sat right on the water. They loved to welcome family and friends who came to visit, and to enjoy the beauty of the scenery, making memories, and good fishing and boating. It was after the loss of her son, Daniel, in 2002, and then losing her husband eight months later in 2003, that she returned to the Lord to heal her broken heart; she leaned into her faith in Jesus and he truly became her rock and the cornerstone of her life. Two years after the passing of her sweet husband, Ronnie, she returned to Colorado and began the Many Hands Quilting Ministry in Colorado Springs. She was devoted to Compassion International, World Vision, and Samaritan's Purse, and she supported seventeen children at the time of her passing. In Acts 20:24 it says, ". . . I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace."Mission accomplished!Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Helen Johnston; her son, Daniel Stephenson; and her husband, Ronnie. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Judy Musich; her children, Bambi Booker (Tim), Elaine Turner (Larry), and Dana Stephenson; her daughter-in-law, Pam Stephenson; grandchildren, Natalie Twedell (Matt), Christina Cowen (Spencer), Stephanie Aragon (David), Trista Turner (fiance, Joe Claxton), Karissa Turner (boyfriend, Steven Nolan), Kendra Turner (Ruben Cortez), Larry Turner, III, Daniel Stephenson, Kevin Stephenson, James Payne, Jeffrey Payne (Kassandra), Michelle Escoto (Martin), Anthony Gonzales, and Bryan Stephenson; and great-grandchildren, Caeden, Ethan and Rylen Twedell, Cloie Cortez, Taylor and Isiah Stephenson, Asher and Jace Cowen, Nathaniel and Isla Escoto, Elijah Aragon, and Charlotte Payne.
