Obituary of Patricia "Pat" Ann Bunte

Pat, formerly of Farragut and Des Moines, Iowa, didn’t really want an obituary (who does?), so let this be a brief biography with an unfortunate newspaper placement. Patricia Ann Bunte, daughter of Vernon Hare and Cecile (Flynn) Hare, was born April 10, 1950 and died on August 5, 2017. The sudden stroke that so rudely took her life had the additional gall to interrupt a family vacation trip to her daughter’s house in Colorado Springs. She married John Bunte (a.k.a. Dammit John) forty-six years ago on May 29, 1971 where, on their wedding night, she spent an abnormally long time getting the rice out of her bouffant hairdo, which freed John up to watch most of the Indy 500.A lover of jigsaw puzzles, reading, and handicrafts, her biggest hobby and deepest love was her grandson, Sebastian. Her children, Taunya and Robert, with their spouses, Ed and Rhonda, came in a close second.A recently retired HR Manager for the Iowa Association of School Boards, Pat gave freely of her time as a Stephen Ministry Caregiver and volunteer Reading Buddy for Des Moines area elementary school reading programs. Her giving continued after death as an organ and tissue donor. That deal was sealed when registering a few years ago, she learned that any weight gain gave them more skin to use for grafts for burn patients so there was no more need to diet! Her absence will ache in the hearts of her sisters, Colleen and Linda; her brothers, Mark and Richard; her nieces and nephews and their families; and her many friends.There will be an Open House/Celebration of Life Gathering, 2:00PM-6:00PM, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at John and Pat’s farm in Eldora, Iowa.
