Obituary of Donald Humphries Gilchrist
Donald Humphries Gilchrist departed this life on August 17, 2017 after a two-year battle with brain cancer.He was born in Goodland, Kansas on February 26, 1944 to Fred and Clara (Bock) Gilchrist. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado when he was eighteen months old. He attended Queen Palmer Grade School and later, Wasson High School, where he learned the printing business, which was his occupation for the next thirty-eight years in District 11, retiring in 2000. During those years, he had many hobbies which include, building his own home, a side printing business, working with ornamental iron, restoring a 1930 Model A Ford, and was an all-around mechanic and handyman to his friends, family, and neighbors alike.He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister.He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Sharon Taylor Gilchrist; his daughter, Pamela Dawn (Danny) Maez; one granddaughter, Jenna Nestola; a brother, Robert Gilchrist; many nieces, nephews and other family; and a host of friends.He faithfully attended Faith Covenant Bible Chapel for over forty years, and will be greatly missed by all.Visitation, 2:00PM-4:00PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00PM, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Faith Covenant Bible Chapel, 1311 Columbine Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
