Obituary of Peter John Cordel
Peter Cordel died unexpectedly on August 26, 2017 at the age of 70.A longtime resident of Colorado Springs, he was born and raised on a farm near Burr Oak, Kansas. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he loved history, nature photography, biking, and the mountains. He couldn’t look at a rock or fossil without being in awe about how old it was or how it was formed. Peter’s outlook on life can be found in his favorite movies: The Bride of Frankenstein, Little Big Man, and The Princess Bride. Trained as an Airborne Ranger and as a pilot who flew CH-47 Chinook helicopters while in the Army, he later became a physical therapist with his own practice. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Malia Cordel; son-in-law, Nathen Clerici; two grandchildren, Keoni and Kaede of Kingston, New York; sister, Annette of Oberlin, Kansas; nephew, Kent Wilson of Prairie Village, Kansas; niece, Lynette Shultz of Collinsville, Oklahoma; niece, Colleen Ruppe of Castle Rock, Colorado; and niece, Pam Garman, of Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Wilson of Grand Island, Nebraska, and his parents. In his memory, he would want everyone to play John Lennon’s “Imagine”, and listen carefully to each word in that beautiful song. Memorial contributions can be made in Peter's memory to The Nature Conservancy or Compassion & Choices. He loved his family very much. “Amen” to the congregation.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
