Obituary of Deanna Louise Mabb

Deanna Louise Mabb (née Patrick), beloved mom and grandma, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Memorial North Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 76, following a battle with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. Born December 13, 1940 in Lone Elm, Kansas to Harvey and Miranda (Huffman) Patrick, Deanna was the youngest of ten siblings and attended schools in Topeka, Kansas. Deanna married Donald E. Mabb, Sr. on January 9, 1959 in Topeka. They had two children, Donald, Jr. and Denise. Deanna was a devoted Air Force wife and mother who made many moves in her adult life, including Kansas, Mississippi, Florida, Michigan, Washington, South Carolina, North Dakota, Minnesota, Arizona, South Dakota, Colorado, and Iran. Wherever she was, she made it home. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Jarrod, Brandon, Alyssa, Mikaela, and Nicholas. She is remembered fondly for her love of Elvis, and for always being up for a long telephone chat, a joke (no matter how many times she heard it, she’d laugh uproariously!), a burger or breakfast out, and a hug. We all looked forward to and will greatly miss the annual birthday call and the singing of “Happy Birthday”. Deanna is survived by her children, Donald E. (Teresa) Mabb, Jr., and Denise L. (Michael) Robbins; and her grandchildren, Jarrod M. Mabb, Brandon J. (Lisa) Mabb, Alyssa M. Mabb, Mikaela M. Robbins, and Nicholas P. Robbins. She is survived also by her brother, Carroll Patrick; and sisters, Rose McKeever and Geraldine Hills. Per Deanna’s request, there will be no formal service. She will join her husband, Donald, Sr., and be inurned at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota at 9:00AM, Monday, September 25, 2017.
