Obituary of MSgt Charles Raymond Ober USAF

Chuck died peacefully at home on October 29, 2017 in Colorado Springs after a short illness, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 18, 1932 in The Dalles, Oregon to Floyd and Alice Ober. He proudly served twenty years in the U.S. Air Force. In 1968 he was awarded The Bronze Star Medal. On June 12, 1959 he married Lorene Virginia Courtright in Portland, Oregon. His time in the service took them many places in the States and abroad. They settled in Colorado Springs after retiring in 1972. He continued working for many more years in Colorado Springs for Sears, and finished his career as a USPS carrier in Hanna City, Illinois. Chuck was happiest when he was doing "at home" projects with his wife. Everyone enjoyed his hearty laugh and genuine smile, which will be greatly missed. He was always the first to offer a helping hand and never missed a chance to open a door for anyone. He is survived by three daughters, JoAnn (Henry) Schmitt, Lisa Wood, and Lynne (Phil) Ober-Williams; and seven grandchildren, Michael Schmitt, Lucas Schmitt, Morella Williams, Alexander Wood, Hayzel Williams, Olivia Wood, and Rowan Williams.Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and son, Charles "Charlie" Ober. The family would like to thank the nurses of Abode Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Chuck and their wonderful support of his loved ones. A private Celebration of Chuck's Life will be held by the family, per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Chuck's memory.Dad - we will always love you "so very much".
