Obituary of Marvin Rudolph Nelsen

Marvin Rudolph Nelsen, born�April 26, 1930�in Detroit, Michigan to John Wilbert�and Margaret Florence Nelsen, passed away in Colorado Springs on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the age of 87.� He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army, and�worked for a pharmaceutical company after his service.� He married June Armour Bertrand on September 26, 1953. They shared a lifelong love. Their only child Caren was born in 1956.Marvin and June traveled and camped extensively around the United States, and decided in 1971 to move to Colorado Springs because of their love of the mountains, especially Pikes Peak.��They built their own home north of the city�where they lived for over forty years. In Colorado Springs, Marvin first delivered furniture, then drove trucks for the U.S. Postal Service.� After retirement, he and June traveled to Arizona every winter and enjoyed the company of other "snowbirds". Marvin enjoyed driving, especially driving family members to the�top of Pikes�Peak.��He also enjoyed time with family including their dog, Rambo. He is survived by his two granddaughters, Jessica (Robert) Swanson,�and Cassie Evans;�sister, Arlene (Gerald) Schmidt and their family; and two sisters-in-law, Lorene and Allyn and their families. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; and his daughter, Caren Evans. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to�Compassus Hospice,�who were so helpful in providing�hospice�care for�Marvin.
