Obituary of SGM Junior Sims Henry

Junior Sims Henry was born July 18, 1938 to the union of Rev. John Wesley Henry and Connie Mae Dawkins Henry in Dothan, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.Junior married Mary Johnson Henry on June 12, 1960. Three boys were born to this union: Andre, Jeffrey and Brian.Junior enlisted in the United States Army at an early age. He served 31 years retiring as Sergeant Major. Some of the medals he received were the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster one with Valor, Meritorious Service, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars.Junior obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Regis College. He also worked for the Internal Revenue Service for thirteen years after retiring from the Army.Junior loved to play Pinochle with his friends. He also loved to hunt and fish.Junior leaves to mourn his passing wife, Mary; sons, Andre (Tiffany), Jeffrey (Trevalyn) and Brian; his grandsons, Rodric Henry, Tony (Kirstye) Goodo, Ju'Wan Henry and William Haywood; great-granddaughters, Jaidyn and Eliana; step-brother, Karl; and step-mother, Nettie Henry. To further cherish his memory are six sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews and the Easterling Family. Junior loved his family and his family loved him, he was affectionately known as PAPA.
