Obituary of W.A. Parrish Cox
W. A. Parrish Cox passed away in Colorado Springs, on January 29, 2018. He was 82.Parrish was born on April 7, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Hollie Lee and Aaron Cox. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. As a young man he helped his father, raising cattle and running the Atascosa Ranch, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He served in the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps. He was discharged with full honors as a Major in 1970. Parrish spent the second half of his life as a salesman. He worked in several industries including insurance, flooring, and housing. He pursued each endeavor with success.Parrish was a brave soldier, a loving and dedicated father, and a patient and calm man. He loved talking with people and made friends easily wherever he went. He was known as Dad, Daddy, Papaw, Pepaw, and even Chappy Jones. Born and raised in Texas with the heart of an American, everyone who met him loved him. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Sue Ellen; his four children, Clay, Chris, Hollie, and Lainie; his three stepchildren; his six grandchildren; and great-granddaughter.
