Obituary of MSgt Robert "Bob" Owen Schofield, USAF,
Robert "Bob" Owen Schofield, 81, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Memorial Hospital North while surrounded by his wife and children.Bob was born September 2, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia to Arthur and Ruby Schofield. He graduated from San Angelo High School in Texas in 1953. He then followed his father's footsteps and joined the United States Air Force in 1954. His military career culminated in 1975, as he was honorably retired. He immediately began a second career where he went from Bowling Center Mechanic to Bowling Center Manager at Warren Lanes in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He retired from Civil Service in August, 2006. He was extremely proud to have faithfully served the United States Government for over fifty years.Bob met Melba Kay Hine while training for his military career in Denver, Colorado, and married her on December 28, 1958. He was a strong and quiet family man who led by example, had a passion for all he did, and exposed his family to an endless variety of things to help them formulate their dreams. The same strong work ethic, integrity, and passion that guided his life has been instilled in each member of his family as they carry the torch for future generations. Bob loved his wife and family, loved to bowl, loved the arts, and took great pride in the accomplishments of his wife and each of his children.Bob is survived by his wife, Kay of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his daughter, Sheena Kay Benson and her husband, Steve of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his son, Robert Owen Schofield, Jr. and his wife, Debora of Chandler, Arizona; his son, William Arthur Schofield and his wife, Theresa of Alamogordo, New Mexico; his daughter, Zina Louise Venneberg and her husband, Karl of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his son, Steven Leroy Schofield and his wife, Karia of Gillette, Wyoming; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; his mother, Ruby; his brother, Buddy; his sister, Beth; and one grandson, William, Jr.Memorial Service, 4:00PM, Friday, February 9, 2018 at The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923. Because of his lifelong love of the arts, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Thunder Basin High School Band Boosters, 4001 Saunders Boulevard, Gillette, Wyoming 82718.
