Obituary of MSgt. Louis Roger Dextraze, USAF,
MSgt. Louise Roger Dextraze, 79, known to most as Dex, died on March 8, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on August 11, 1938 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Paul Zephyr and Millie (Clara) Dextraze.He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956. While serving in the Air Force, he was an Administrative Assistant and the Communication Coordinator to the White House staff between 1964 -1970. Dex then served as the Administrative Supervisor to the U.S. mission to NATO in Brussels, Belgium from 1970-1975. He was then reassigned to Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he retired in 1977.His military and professional careers were notable and brought energy and dedication to his personal life as well.Dex had many passionate hobbies which included, astronomy, geology, and racquetball. Through the years he defined the adventurer, traveler, athlete, outdoorsman, and lover of life. He had a sense of wonder. Whether it be exploring the stars, or the world, it was contagious. Everyday was a celebration of life, and Dex often said, "Make everyday count."The memories made with family and friends will last a lifetime. Our lives are much richer in knowing him. We reflect on our gratitude in knowing him, and our sorrow in losing him. We also feel confident that Dex leaving our world seems like his last great adventure. You surely will be missed, but know you're in a better place amongst the stars. We love you!Dex is preceded in death by his wife; Marge Ellen Dextraze, and stepgrandson; Christopher Driscoll.He is survived by sons; Jeff (Bo) and Greg Dextraze, stepsons; Frank (Karin) and Aaron (Pati) Driscoll, stepdaughter; Margee (Paul) Horst, brother; Paul Dextraze, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a step-great-grandchild.Memorial service was held at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
