Obituary of Rev. Halvard Hvid Running

Reverend Running passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Colorado Springs. He was 96.He was the minister at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs for twenty years. He not only preached the gospel, he also lived it. He was a Conscientious Objector during World War II based on Jesus' teachings. He was active in the Civil Rights Movement and for a time preached one Sunday a month at an all black congregation while their minister preached to his all white congregation. He touched many lives. He was preceded in death by his wives, Barbara and Madeleine; and daughter, Kirsten Akse.He is survived by his sons, Erik and Rolf, as well as four grandkids and nine great-grandkids.His memory will be cherished.
