Obituary of Roger "Ted" Theodore Gustafson

Roger Theodore Gustafson was born in Rockford, Illinois, on May 15, 1942, but moved to Colorado Springs when he was five years old, and so truly considered himself a Colorado boy. He grew up on the south side and attended Ivywild grade school, South Junior and graduated from Palmer HS. Ivywild Presbyterian Church was where he learned about Jesus at a very young age, but it wasn't until a Young Life trip to Canada in his sophomore year in High School that he gave his heart to the Lord.He met his wife, Dona, in 1965 after a friend bet him she wouldn't go out with him. They were married in 1966 and blessed with two children. After spending four years together, they were divorced for eight years and then remarried. But during those eight years they both met Jesus in a pronounced way and so were different people when they got married the second time.He was a wonderful husband and a supportive dad, a career Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker with SMW Local #9, Corvette owner and car club guy, Loss Prevention Specialist, avid hiker, experienced camper and expert spelunker. He was a Safety Overseer and later, a Home Depot Millworks clerk. But most important, he was a man of God. Quiet, humble, gentle yet strong, a friend to all, he made our lives richer. He was one of the good guys.Ted, as he was affectionately known by most, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 16.He is survived by his wife, Dona; son, Curtis; daughter, Courtney (JD) Cain; brother, Dennis (Judi); grandchildren, Hannah (Ben) Niehues, Mark Ramsey II, and Rylee Gustafson; great-grandson, Bernard Albert Niehues V; as well as nephew, Victor (Lisa) Gustafson; and grand-nephews, Weston and Hayden.
