Obituary of Erma Jean Smith

Erma Jean (Pritts) Smith, age 97, of Colorado Springs, Colorado entered into rest on April 12, 2018. Erma was born in Ligonier, Pennsylvania to parents John L. and Laura May Pritts. She attended Ligonier public schools and married Carl K. Smith. Erma worked hard as a homemaker for her two daughters and her husband. She lived in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Florida, and Colorado, but spent most of her life in her hometown of Ligonier. Erma enjoyed traveling with her husband Carl and gardening. Erma was well known for her ability to coax any plant to grow from even the most meager of beginnings. In her later years, Erma relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is survived by her two daughters, Gladys S. Hester of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Carol A. Smith of Denver, Colorado. In addition she is survived by three grandchildren, John E. (Julie) Hester, IV of Phoenix, Arizona, Michael S. (Carson) Hester of Palmer Lake, Colorado, and Laura L. (Steve) Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. Erma is preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; her husband, Carl K. Smith; and granddaughter, Christine R. Hester.
