Obituary of Lt. Col. David Milton Lueck, USAF,

On April 18th, 2018, David M. Lueck passed away at the age of 76, surrounded by loved ones after his battle with cancer�came to an end.�His dedication and love to his wife, Brenda of forty-seven years and family was a lasting inspiration to everyone who knew him.Born to Milton Carl Lueck and Vivian Mildred Gile on Easter in 1942 on April 5 in Winona, Minnesota. He graduated from Winona State University in 1964, Cum Laud, with his Bachelor of Science, which was also the year he began his Air Force Career in Meteorology that lasted thirty years. During his time as Commander of the weather station at Whiteman Air Force base, he met his wife, Brenda, who was a teacher. His military experiences included three tours to Vietnam and one tour to Okinawa which earned him military decorations including Meritorious Service and Air Force Commendation medal. He retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1992. During his career, David and his family lived in Louisville, Kentucky where he worked for the state of Kentucky; Naperville, Illinois working with the EPA; District of Columbia working at the Pentagon; and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he retired from the civil service in 2001 as a Supervisory Physical Scientist and Chief of the Technical Integration Division for the Department of Topographic Engineering. David loved to travel with his family and fell in love with the mountains and Colorado Springs area where he and his wife moved to retire after living in Rolla, Missouri for over a decade. He enjoyed the mountain scenery including visits to Garden of the Gods and Rock Ledge Ranch. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and MOAA.He loved traveling and spending time with his family, pets, and granddogs. His travel adventures took him on cruises to the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, New England, and Canada. His recent travels included The Grand Canyon, Western California, and Hawaii. David is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Kay Lueck; son, Aaron David (Tammy) Lueck; daughter, Cristen Kay (Ryan) Kassmeier; brother, Tom (Jeanne) Lueck; two sisters, Patricia Denzer and Dianne (Leo) Hazelton; grandson, Kooper Aaron Lueck; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.David had the talent of making those around him laugh with his witty remarks and sense of humor. He had a positive outlook on life that influenced those that surrounded him. He will be greatly missed and his stylish hat collection will forever be remembered.
