Obituary of Rita Lorena Brautigam

Rita Brautigam, age 78, died on May 13, 2018 from lung cancer and complications from COPD and emphysema. She died at her son's home in Sedalia, Colorado in her sleep surrounded by her devoted family. Rita was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a child she lived in Missouri for a while, but returned back to Colorado. Rita moved briefly to California as a young lady where she and her husband had their first born son, Craig, and then quickly returned to Colorado to have her daughter, Elizabeth, and to spend the rest of her life in the Falcon and Colorado Springs area. Rita lived life to the fullest. She first and foremost loved Jesus Christ more than anything else. Second only to Him was her unwavering dedication and love to her family. Rita also loved adventure, fast corvettes, and worked many different jobs in her lifetime, including a computer programmer, a special needs teacher assistant, and an administrator at FocusOn the Family, but her favorite position by far and away was being a mom and a grandmother of six boys.Rita was known as a "spit fire", but her faith touched many different people, and she had many friends who loved her sense of humor. She was always there to share a kind word and always seemed to know just the right thing to say to a person who was needing to be encouraged. She spent countless hours laughing with her grandsons, and watching movies with them. She is preceded in death by her mother, Julia; her father, Frank; her beloved step father, Richard; and her dear grandson, Tyler.Rita is survived by her son, Craig;daughter-in-law, Shay;daughter, Elizabeth; and grandsons, Justin, Torin, Micah, Kaiden, and Eliah.Private Services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018.
