Obituary of CWO Palmer Edward Severson, USAF

Palmer Severson, 93, left this life on June 5, 2018 peacefully in his home in Ellicott, Colorado with his daughter by his side. He was born in Mason City, Iowa to Eddie A. and Belinda Syverson. He was raised on his father's farm in Wannaska, Minnesota. At the age of 18 he joined the Army Air Corps and became a Pilot and served in WWII and Vietnam. His absolute favorite plane to fly was the P-51 Mustang. During his Air Force career, he received numerous commendations: Pilot wings, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with 5 oak Leaf Clusters, two Vietnam Service Medals, National Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze service star, Air Force Longevity Service with 1 silver oak leaf cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters along with several others.He retired from Ent Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1969 after almost twenty-six years of service. Palmer had an amazing ability to play music. He played the ukulele and loved the accordion most of all. He had the honor to play with Myron Floren from The Lawrence Welk Show. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his love, Odette, whom he called his Butterfly. They enjoyed visiting Cripple Creek, Colorado, The VFW, post 4051 and polka dancing at the polka club. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Wilson of Missoula, Montana; his son, Dan Severson; and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Troy. Palmer is survived by the love of his life of forty-nine years, Odette Windle, who came from Germany and now resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado; his daughter, Belinda; son, Eddie and his wife, Deb Severson of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; three granddaughters and four great grandchildren, Tiffany and her son, Mason, Amanda (Keith) and their children, Kiana and Karson, and Amber and her daughter, Callie.Funeral Service, 11:00AM, Tuesday, November 20, 2018, The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.Graveside Service, 1:00PM, Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
