He served in the U.S. Air Force as a JAG Officer at Patrick AFB in Florida from 1969 - 1972, and then returned to San Diego, California where he initially worked for Teledyne Ryan, San Diego County Counsel, and subsequently, in private practice focusing on land use. He resided with his family in University City until 2012.He is survived by his wife, Sue; four children, Genevieve, Lisa, Stephen, and Andrew; two daughters-in-law, Laura and Jody; and four grandchildren, Jackson, Aubree, Kaito, and Charlie. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Judy Garratt; and his sister-in-law, Patti Fitzpatrick. He is remembered among those who knew him best as having a love of the law and equally, of his family. He was a devoted UCLA Bruin (basketball) fan and avid sports enthusiast, especially soccer, tennis and running. He coached several youth soccer teams in the University City area and mentored many. But he will be especially remembered for his sense of humor, his warm smile and generous nature, his goofy facial expressions coupled with spot-on imitations of several Disney characters, and his delight in the execution of the perfect pun. We miss you, master mapper...see you at the "S Curve".A private family "Celebration of Life" will be held in late September in Northern California.
