Obituary of Michael E. Murphy

Michael E. Murphy passed away August 26, 2018 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 21, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Michael joined the United States Army in 1959 where he worked as a laboratory technician in the medical field. He was honorably discharged and retired from active duty, but continued working civil service as a surgical technician.He married the love of his life, Julia "Judy" Peterson in 1962 at Roswell Community Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They finally made Colorado Springs home in 1976 and raised two children and are blessed with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Mike was strong, tough, loving, and some may even call him stubborn. He loved collecting antiques, especially old beer cans and clocks. He loved the Broncos and the Rockies, but his favorite was NASCAR. In his free time, he also like to bowl and go fishing.Michael is survived by his wife, Julia "Judy" Murphy; his son, Michael (Amber) Murphy; his daughter, Marley Murphy; his grandchildren, Timothy Joseph Murphy, Tatum Rose Rouse-Murphy, Jasmine Irene Romain, Conner Sage Murphy, and Willow Grace Murphy; great-granddaughter, Lylha Marie Murphy; and sisters, Cherie Smith and Lise Reese.Graveside Service, 9:00AM, Thursday, August 30, 2018, Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80235.Celebration of Life, 1:00PM, Thursday August 30, 2018, Roswell Community Church, 2728 Beacon Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.
