Obituary of Florentina Garcia

Florentina Pena Garcia, age 87, was surrounded by her family and friends during her last days. She passed away on September 7, 2018, at Brookdale Palmer Park Memory Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Florentina was born in Balleza, Chihuahua, Mexico on October 26, 1930, to Ciro and Gumecinda Pena. She was just eighteen years old when she immigrated to the United States. Later she proudly became a naturalized American citizen. Florentina married Rafael Garcia in El Paso, Texas and they had three children; Ralph, Martha and Lourdes. After their divorce, Florentina moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a single mom, she raised her children with dedication, love and care. She was a devout Christian, loved her children and looked after her grandchildren with the same love and attention. She worked full time to support her family and retired from Presbyterian Hospital. As adults with their own families, Florentina's children moved to Colorado Springs nineteen years ago. She joined them in Colorado Springs. She loved living in beautiful Colorado, going for walks with her dog, gardening, and most of all, helping friends and family. She also helped her extended family in any way she could. Florentina's eldest daughter, Martha Garcia, went to be with the Lord ten years ago. She is survived by her son, Rafael "Ralph" (Ruth) Garcia; daughter, Lourdes "Lou" Garcia (Arthur) Jauriqui; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Alex Jauriqui, Joshua (Shelby) Jauriqui, Jessica Jauriqui, Samantha (Joseph) Huddleston, and Christy Wilvert. She also was fortunate to have five great-grandchildren, Davien Garcia, Vincent Huddleston, Anna Garcia, Laila Huddleston and Killian Huddleston.
