Obituary of George Willard King

George Willard King, lovingly cradled in the hands of his Savior, entered eternal rest in the early morning of September 26, 2018, Colorado Springs, Colorado. His commitment and love for Christ was unmistakable and marked by his well-worn Bible. His comforting smile and blue eyes remain etched in our memory as he continues to watch us from Heaven. His loving demeanor will forever be cherished by not only his family but also his countless friends and church family. He was born on May 30, 1939 to Jeard and Ruth E. (Stadden) King in Tulare, California. Growing up he treasured participating in 4H, learning and working farm agriculture and driving his 55 Chevy. A high school highlight was playing his trombone in Washington D.C. for the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Inauguration. While studying agriculture and music at Pasadena College he met the love of his life, LeAvice Ann (Taylor) King. Married for over fifty-six years, his commitment to his family was evident as he cherished every moment teaching us how to ride bikes, play softball and fish. Yearly family trips to Disneyland have provided memories of the happiest moments on earth together. Yosemite camping trips, hiking Bryce Canyon at the age of 60, going to Rockies games, Rockies spring training and playing on six softball teams in his 60's revealed his forevermore young-hearted spirit. While God and his family were of highest priority, his passion for music and pianos remains apparent as the owner of King's Piano for fifty-five years and tuning over 51,000 pianos. His devotion to "Helping People" whether it was through his business, smile, words or calmness has left us all with an unparalleled legacy.George is preceded in death by his wife, LeAvice Ann (Taylor) King; and his parents. He is survived by his son, Greg (Cyndi) King; his daughter, Dr. Tami (Wayne) King-Latka; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Boris) Loncaric, Jordan King, Kasey Wachtendorf, andShelby (Michael) Hoover; and one great-grandchild, Beckett Loncaric. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Maude Jennings of Tulare, California.
