Obituary of Tommy Loren Keith

"Good Ole Boy"Tommy was born in 1931, in Quay, New Mexico. Quay County inherited a very genuine and caring individual. He loved growing up with his large family of brothers and sisters. That love for family stuck with him throughout his entire life. His family; Mother, Father, Brothers, Sisters, Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are very proud of what and who he had become. A loving father that worked his tail to the bone to provide for whatever was needed. He taught his children about hard work, respect and honor. He was a selfless man who put his children's activities and lives ahead of his own.Tommy found God in the outdoors, whether chasing bugling elk high in the Rocky Mountains, pheasants on the plains of Kansas or fishing the clear waters of the South Platte river. He always had a love and respect for the outdoors. That love created memories from camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, but most of all, the time spent together with family. These memories stay with usour entire life. It's something that can be passed on from generation to generation. That's pretty cool.Tommy is survived by his former wife, Joyce Keith of Peyton, Colorado; his children, Johnny (Janet) Keith of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Debbie Gambrell of Boone, Iowa, Dave Galivan Keith of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tommy (Kim) Keith of Mesquite, Nevada, Carrie (Joe) Nee of Ellicott, Colorado, Cody (Annette) Keith of Meade, Kansas and Troy Norris of Simla, Colorado; his stepchildren, Sharon Treadwell, Lisa Cowan, Rick Elliott and Shirley Gatewood; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Neil (Dorothy) Keith of Debuque, Iowa, Melvin (Barbara) Keith and Alvin (Vena) Keith, both of Logan, New Mexico.Tommy loved having his family and friends around. He didn't like to be by himself. The more the merrier. He would prefer a houseful. He would tell stories as everyone listened and laughed. His quick witted and dry sense of humor was contagious. He was always a verypositive person that tried to see the best in everything.Tommy was a cowboy. His passion for ranching was a very important part of his life. He would spend his days in town working in his engineering business, come home and gather up the kids to check the cows. Ranching was with him his entire life. He would spend hours talking with his friends and family about the cattle market and how much money he was going to lose. That didn't matter. He was living his dream, being who and what he wanted to be.Rodeo played a big part of his life also. Volunteering his time to help the up and coming kids in rodeo. Buying horses when he knew he couldn't afford them. He knew what was important in life and that was to make sure that what he brought into this world would be of value. Value comes in many ways and Tommy knew how to get the best out of everyone, whether it be an employee, family member or just a stranger. Tommy lived his lifenot to be a person of success but a person of value. VERY WELL DONE COWBOY! You will be missed and loved forever.Happy Trails.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Sunday, October 7, 2018, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
