Arlen was truly a one of a kind man. That smile and dapper attire was unforgettable. His compassion, kindness, and sincerity made you feel important and that you made a difference. What an impression Arlen made on my heart and in my life and I will be forever grateful and blessed to have known him. Work, play, and travel were all made better because of his knowledge, professionalism, dedication, and commitment. I learned so much from him. Terri, I am keeping you all in my thoughts and earnest prayers.

I worked at The Springs Funeral Services last June through September. I remember meeting Arlen and he always liked saying my name " Alejandro " and we always laughed about it. He always said I dressed nice and mentioned that's one thing him and I had in common. Arlen was a kind and gentle soul and I will always remember his big smile and his handshake he always gave me in the morning. Rest in Paradise, Arlen Alejandro " Cruz " Smith

Well, my heart is broken. My great friend of 40 years taught me so many things and took me and my companies wherever he went. I never knew where he would be calling from! What an awesome mentor he was to me. I lost my father early, and in so many ways Arlen replaced him. He gave me long distance hugs and incredible words of encouragement. When I lost my wife to breast cancer 2 1/2 years ago, Arlen was there to lift me up and was one of the first to call me. Now we have lost him too soon. Teri, Hal and Paul I hurt deeply for you. I will miss my brother...and my fill-in dad. Tears for all of us who knew him.

When I think of Arlen I will always smile. That's the kind of gentleman he was. Arlen would great you with a smile and a "Good Morning" with that soft twang. An impeccably dressed man who wore the nicest leather shoes I have ever seen. Above all that I felt I could sit down an have a nice talk about life, past and present, the people we knew and of course work. Thank you Arlen for your wisdom, sharing your experiences and your quotes.' My favorite quote from Arlen was "Just remember, it only costs twice as much to go first class." Terry and to the whole family, including all employees and many, many friends I offer my sympathy, May God give you all peace and strength to work through your grief. Sincerely, Nancy Kowalski

Arlen was such a warm and welcoming soul, he made me feel so at ease when I first started working at The Springs and boy was he a snazzy dresser! I will forever remember him in his matching track suit, bright red Adidas running shoes and his pageboy cap! I am so honored that I was able to meet him. The world has truly lost one of the most influential among the funeral industry. All of my love to Terri, Shelby, Hal and the rest of the family.

My wife and I have known and loved Arlen Brown for many years....since our early days in funeral service in Denver. He had a gentle spirit, a warm heart and knew the funeral business better than any funeral director we've known. He had a great smile, was a snazzy dresser and had a compassionate soul. He will be dearly missed by his many friends in funeral service. We were honored to have been a part of this good man's life. Tom and Jen Vien Colorado Springs

Deonne and I have known Arlen for many years. We loved the times he would stop by our shop after his dog had been groomed, just to say hi. and get caught up. He has touched so many lives in the Funeral Industry, and countless lives as a selfless funeral professional. He always had such great advice for me, and I loved his wisdom and sense of humor. I will miss you my friend. Terry and Deonne School
