Obituary of James Martin Chisman
James Chisman of Ellicott, Colorado passed away peacefully at his home�on October 9, 2018 with loving family by his side.�James was born on April 11, 1931 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to his parents, Walter Scott and Leola Chisman. James attended The Ellicott School in Ellicott, Colorado. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in April, 1951 and loved serving his county, he served for four years. He then returned to Ellicott to help his parents run the family business. James was married to Mary Lou Harding on January 1, 1961 in Ellicott, Colorado where they lived and raised their family. They were co-owners�of the Ellicott Garage for many years with his brother and sister-in-law. James also enjoyed working for the Dickinson Cattle Company and working for El Paso County for many years before he retired. He loved to be with his family and friends. James loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed every moment that he could spend with his family and animals. He loved gardening and was a great cook, he was a wonderful father, grandfather and husband. He was so proud of his family and grandchildren. He loved to spend every minute he could with his granddaughter, Lacey. He passed on his love of animals to her. He enjoyed many hours of going out with her and her animals. He loved going hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He�is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Lou; sister, Wanda Kenley; and brothers, Wayne Chisman, Gene Chisman and Ronald Chisman.�James is survived by his sons, James and Walter Chisman; his daughter-in-law, Mary Chisman; his grandchildren, Lacey Chisman, Zac, Dustin, and Nicole Dunkin; his great-grandchildren; his children from a previous marriage, Kye Chisman and Sharon Dunkin; his dogs, Mario and Ginger; his amazing hospice staff that helped take wonderful care of him and became part of our family; and a host of family and great friends. Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund in James Chisman's name at the Farmers State Bank of Ellicott at 445 North Ellicott Highway, Calhan, Colorado 80808.
