Obituary of Richard "Dick" Eugene Anderson

Richard "Dick" Eugene Anderson, 85, passed away on All Saints Sunday, November 4, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Leonard and Nettie (Wieland) Anderson. He attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving a BS in Accounting. He was a Captain in the ROTC, retiring shortly after the armistice of the Korean War.Dick was a partner with Kiesling Associates LLP, having worked in Madison, Wisconsin, Des Moines, Iowa, Springfield, Illinois and ending up in Colorado Springs. He retired October 17, 2006. Dick had a strong faith and was active in the life of his church at Black Forest Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer/accountant for over twenty-five years. There were times when Pastor Hohag would phone Dick to get a "ball park" idea of the church's finances. Dick replied, "I don't do ball park."Dick married Georgia Walters on December 17, 1955. Three children were born to this union; Thomas, Karen and Kirstin. In April of 1973 Georgia and Karen were in a bad car accident, Georgia died and Karen was injured. One of the nurses attending Karen was Carolyn "Lyn" Harrold. Not only was Carolyn attending Karen in her healing, but as time passed Dick saw Carolyn as more than just Karen's nurse. On January 4, 1974 Dick and Carolyn were united in marriage. When Dick wasn't working with numbers, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, politics and making the best cheesecake ever! Up to his death, Dick was keeping a close eye on the upcoming elections. Lyn was pretty sure Dick would be with us a little longer to hear the results! He leaves behind his loving wife of forty-four years; his three children and their families: Thomas (Shelley) and their children, Eric, Greg and Jeff; Karen (Ken) Hinton and their daughter, Haylee; Kirstin White and her children, Naomi, Josiah, Ethen, Ezra, Boaz and Stephany; and Dick's brother, Jack (Donna) Anderson and their children, Jill and Amy.Dick will be best remembered as a numbers' man, and a man who would not give out his cheesecake recipe!Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Saturday, November 17, 2018, Black Forest Lutheran Church, 12455 Black Forest Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80908.
