Obituary of Frank Carl Hickethier
Frank Carl Hickethier passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2018. Frank was born in Manhattan, New York to the son of German immigrants, Albin Arthur and Anna (Herrmann) Hickethier, who preceded him in death.As a teenager Frank lived at Bonnie Brae Farm for Boys in Millington, New Jersey. While there he attended Bernards High School, graduating in 1952. Upon graduation, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he would become a Naval Electrician and serve aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Frank began his career with New Jersey Bell. He married Alice Ruth Hoyt of Bergenfield, New Jersey on September 8, 1956.Frank moved his family from Bergenfield, New Jersey to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1972, where he continued to work for the Bell Companies/US West until his retirement.Frank was a beloved member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Colorado Springs, Colorado and a devoted husband and father. Frank was an avid camper, hunter and fisherman and filled his time in retirement with church activities and a variety of hobbies including lapidary, building and flying remote control airplanes, playing cards and visiting with friends and family.Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice; his children Mark (Lora) Hickethier of Parker, Colorado, Robin (Jim) Flood of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dawn (Alan) Muller of Bayfield, Colorado, and Kurt Hickethier of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren Jessica (Evan) Weigel of Denver, Colorado and Matthew Hickethier of Buffalo Creek, Colorado; and his great-grandchildren, Abbi and Jordan Weigel of Denver, Colorado.Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Friday, November 30, First Southern Baptist Church, 1409 Palmer Park Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80909.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made in Frank's memory to the First Southern Baptist Church (FSBC.org) or to the Parkinson's Foundation (Parkinson.org).
