Obituary of Martha T. Evans

Martha T. Evans, 69, died on November 24, 2018 in Vero Beach, Florida.She was born on July 19, 1949 in Winchester, Massachusetts to John and Dorothy Tague. Marty grew up in Stoneham, Massachusetts. She graduated from Cambridge College with a Masters of Education degree in Management and a Masters of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Marty had a highly decorated 42-year career working as a civilian for the Air Force, culminating as a member of the Senior Executive Service at the Pentagon.In retirement, she moved to Vero Beach with her husband of 32 years, Lt. Col. John T. Evans, Jr. (Ret.). Not one to ever fully retire, she became a consultant to the aerospace industry. Throughout her life, she was passionately involved in charitable organizations and sought to help her communities. Locally, she was on the Board of Directors for the Women's Philanthropic Group, Indian River Impact 100.Marty also spent much of her life traveling with her husband and close friends. She explored many unique places, experiencing many lives worth of adventure. Being inspired by her trip to Africa and her love of elephants she adopted an orphaned elephant, Tagwa, facilitating rehabilitation and conservation in Kenya.Marty is survived by her loving husband, John; brothers, Steve (Eleanor) Tague and Bill (Sheila) Tague; children, Thomas (Danielle), John (Krista), Jason (Lisa) and Jacquelyn (Matt); three grandchildren, Ryan, Kathryn and Emmett; and many beloved extended family members.�As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (https://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org).
