Obituary of Cheryl Wanda Greenwood

Cheryl W. Greenwood, 81, resident of Black Forest, Colorado, died on December 17, 2018 in Black Forest, Colorado. Cheryl was born September 14, 1937 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her parents were Hazel Maud Bowman formerly Peetz, Colorado and Louis Conrad Olsen of Gravvik, Norway. She was a former elementary school teacher and long-term homemaker. She was a member of the body of Christ.Cheryl was born with a servant's heart and with hands that were seldom idle. From her early childhood, she loved her Lord Jesus. Her desire was to become a missionary. At the tender age of 14 she lost her dear father suddenly of a heart attack. She helped to support her mother and sister while earning scholarship worthy grades. After graduation from Berthoud High School in 1956, she attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. While there, she met her future husband, Dallas Greenwood, a resident of Sterling and a fellow NJC student. They married at the First Foursquare Church of Sterling in 1959. She received her certificate to teach elementary school, teaching school in the Lorenzo and Fleming areas. She was a well-loved teacher of the third and fifth grade students that she taught the two years she taught school.Following the birth of their daughter Terri in 1961, Cheryl became a devoted full-time mother and homemaker. Trenee followed in 1963. Their youngest son, Travis was born in Colorado Springs in 1977 after the couple relocated to Monument, Colorado in 1973. During hard times, she returned to the work force as a housekeeper/nanny. They moved to their current Black Forest home in 1984. Their marriage endured 59 years of life's challenges, which included a forest fire, before she departed this mortal life. She loved her family with intense loyalty. She kept an immaculate, well-decorated home. She loved singing, sewing, baking, scrapbooking, and sledding on cold December nights. She strived to do everything with excellence. She loved to listen and provide reassurance to sooth her loved one's heart aches. She had a smile that would light up the whole room, and when she was unhappy and worried, we all knew it. She taught her children many virtues by her excellent example. She was her husband's best friend. Her life wasn't filled with many noteworthy accolades, but her life will send its gentle ripples across the seas of our lives. We will miss her.Cheryl is survived by her husband, Dallas Duane Greenwood; children, Terri Cudd, Trenee Helgestad and Travis T.L.
