"Absent from the body...present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:1-8Betty was born in Miami, Florida to Eugene Otto and Lucille (Overby) Wells on November 10, 1927. That was home base for fourteen years. However, the family spent several of those years in various locations in the southeast; wherever her father was stationed by the Army. In 1942 they settled in Wheaton, Illinois where Betty's older sister, Kay, was attending Wheaton College. Betty attended high school at Wheaton Academy, where she met Daniel Charles Gardner. They married in 1948, during their senior year at Wheaton College. Betty graduated in 1949, forever a '49er!Danny and Betty chose Denver, Colorado as the place they wanted to raise their children. She is survived by her three children, Carole Rudy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Chuck (Alison) Gardner of Los Angeles, California and Jan (Bill) Ghirardelli of Oakland, California.Betty found her greatest satisfaction as a mother, and later, as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by nine grandchildren, Heather Rudy, Megan (Matt) Cook, Patrick (Stacie) Rudy, Christopher Rudy, Gina (Greg) Doscher, Katie (Trey) Blair, Nick Gardner, Bo (Caity) Ghirardelli and Nick Ghirardelli; and ten great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Baily, Bryce and Madisyn Rudy, Natalie, Ethan and Caleb Cook, Nathalie Mae and Rhodie Blair, Penelope Richardson and Henry Doscher. She is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Ted and Kay Wehling; and her son-in-law, Dave Rudy.Other things Betty loved were gospel music, sunflowers, seagulls, sunrises, and many friends, but most of all, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Following a short illness, Betty died peacefully at age 91 on December 26, 2018 with her loving family by her side."As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness, when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness."
