Lucas and I were in the same band, Had I Known. Out of the hundreds of memories I have of Lucas, one stands out above all the others. The band were playing our cd release show and a large crowd had come to see us play. We played possibly the best set we ever had, and as soon as we hit the final note of the final song, the crowd erupted with a huge response of approval. I looked back at Lucas and he had the BIGGEST smile on his face. It felt like I had caught a glimpse of Lucas as a little boy, the unbridled happiness and enthusiasm that I saw on his face was genuine and beautiful, and at that moment I knew Lucas was happy and beyond thrilled to receive that kind of response from the crowd. I smiled back at him and gave him a huge high-five, and we both looked at each other in excitement, knowing that we had played an incredible show. That look of unabashed joy/excitement/happiness that I saw on Lucas's face is frozen in my mind and my heart. It's how I will always remember him...I love you Lucas, you're always going to be my brother and forever a member of our band that you made better every time that we played.
