I am so saddened to hear about this median cross over accident. I did not know Lucas, but am working hard trying to push CDOT to install much needed median cable guards on I-25 between Colorado Springs and Pueblo, to help prevent accidents such as this one, with my Facebook page Citizens for a Safer I-25. I started the page after witnessing the median cross-over accident that took the lives of Josh Martinez and Amber Pacino in nearly the same place on January 12, 2015. Since that time CDOT has installed 13 miles of cable guards, however, for some reason this area continues to be ignored. I would like to include Lucas on my page, and any help anyone can give me to make that section of I-25 safer would truly be appreciated. Many, many prayers for Lucas family and friends. God bless all of you. Sheila Glanville-Conlee, Citizens for a Safer I-25

I am so sorry for your loss. Please take comfort in John 5:28, 29 and 1 Corinthians 15:26, where God promises that we will be reunited with our loved ones here on earth in the near future and will never have to fear losing them again.

I so enjoyed getting to know Lucas when we worked at the Air Force Academy Falcon Club. He was so kind-hearted & a joy for myself, the Bigs and Littles in the Big Brothers & Sisters Organization. I'm away at this time and very sorry I wasn't there to attend his memorial service. Sincerest condolences to Erin and his family. - Gail Yancey Colorado Springs

Lucas, I'll always keep a cardigan hanging in my closet for you, man. Just pop on by to see me sometime, and it can be all yours :). May your rest that has come far too soon be in peace.

Lucas and I were in the same band, Had I Known. Out of the hundreds of memories I have of Lucas, one stands out above all the others. The band were playing our cd release show and a large crowd had come to see us play. We played possibly the best set we ever had, and as soon as we hit the final note of the final song, the crowd erupted with a huge response of approval. I looked back at Lucas and he had the BIGGEST smile on his face. It felt like I had caught a glimpse of Lucas as a little boy, the unbridled happiness and enthusiasm that I saw on his face was genuine and beautiful, and at that moment I knew Lucas was happy and beyond thrilled to receive that kind of response from the crowd. I smiled back at him and gave him a huge high-five, and we both looked at each other in excitement, knowing that we had played an incredible show. That look of unabashed joy/excitement/happiness that I saw on Lucas's face is frozen in my mind and my heart. It's how I will always remember him...I love you Lucas, you're always going to be my brother and forever a member of our band that you made better every time that we played. Rest In Peace my beautiful friend. ❤️❤️❤️

I am so sorry to learn that Lucas has passed away. He is gone much too soon and will be very dearly missed. I hope a passage at John 5:28, 29 brings comfort to everyone who is grieving his passing. May we all look forward to seeing our loved ones like Lucas again on a beautiful Paradise earth according to that promise.

I got the privilege of growing up with Lucas. It was God'S work to make Lucas into the awesome person we all knew/know him to be. I was there the night he decided to follow Jesus and make him lord over his life and seen him baptized. It was from this point everyone seen a radical change and Lucas started to become "Lucas." He became a kind, gentle and well tempered person. Loving and good in it's most true form. I would love to spend more time with him, however I know I will have a eternity to enjoy his company. He has brought much happiness to my life and if there is anyone who I wish to learn from and imitate it is Lucas. He did it he lived the dream! Erin too is an amazing person and I was very excited for him the first time I got to meet her. I think the response was something like "how on earth did he find Erin!" The massive smile that was on his face when they were together was priceless (I got photos to prove it too). He lived a very good life......and will miss him very much. ~Justin Huffman~ Ecclesiastes 7 1 A good name is better than precious ointment, And the day of death than the day of one's birth; 2 Better to go to the house of mourning Than to go to the house of feasting, For that is the end of all men; And the living will take it to heart. 3 Sorrow is better than laughter, For by a sad countenance the heart is made better. 4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, But the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

My condolences to you all for the loss of your loved one Lucas. May these scriptures bring you all a measure of comfort and hope during this difficult time. Revelation 21: 3, 4 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
