Obituary of Sharon Cosgrove

We mourn the passing of our loving and devoted wife, mother, nana, sister and friend to all whose lives she deeply touched. Sharon was called home to the Lord on February 28, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer. Sharon was born in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Thomas, Kentucky on February 1, 1945. She and her family continued to reside in Kentucky through Sharon's teenage years. She graduated Boone County High School in Kentucky in 1963 and eventually began working as a teller in a bank which led to a long and successful career in banking.Sharon married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Cosgrove on July 28, 1973. Sharon brought with her to the marriage a daughter, Nicole, and a son, Mark, from a previous marriage. Sharon gained a step-daughter, Kelly, and a step-son, Kevin, with this union. Sharon and Richard had one son, Christopher. After marrying Dick, she and her family resided shortly in New Jersey and Virginia but settled in San Jose, California in 1976 where they raised their family. In 1990, Sharon and Dick moved their family to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she resided until her death. Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Miller Schingledecker; and her father, Ronald Schingledecker; as well as her mother-in-law, Fran Cosgrove and her father-in-law, George Cosgrove. As a wife, she shared her heart and life with Dick. As a Mom, she shared her values, devotion and strength with her children. As a Nana, she shared her love and laughter with her nine grandchildren; Connor, Devon, Sage, Taylor, Kasey, Mara, Kory, Kelsey and Connor Lightfoot. Sharon is also survived by her sister, Lila Schingledecker, with whom she shared a deep connection as well as a love of Elvis and good wine. Sharon is survived by her daughters-in-law, Christine Cosgrove and Jennifer Cosgrove, with whom she shared her love of cooking and baking. Sharon is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pam and son-in-law, Ralph. Sharon was a sister-in-law and aunt to quite an extensive family, all of whom reside in New Jersey and all of whom loved her very much. Sharon was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother first and foremost, and was fierce in her love and protection of her husband, children, and grandchildren. She cherished her time with family whether it was the holidays, a birthday or just a casual drop in that led to a BBQ or dinner. Her vivacious and joyful personality, combined with a wicked sense of humor, made people around her and all that knew her smile and laugh. Her upbeat attitude and positive outlook on life was contagious and left all that knew her happy they did. Her love of Elvis, music, shopping, wine, plants, and going on cruises and vacations with family and friends was passed on to her friends and family alike. Because of her belief in God and angels, we know that she is not only resting in His loving arms, but that she has been reunited with so many good friends and family that were waiting to greet her. We love you so much and miss you Sharon and know we will see you again. Until then, you are always on our minds and forever in our hearts.
