Obituary of Kyle John Forti

Kyle John Forti, age 29, loving and beloved husband, father, foster dad, son and brother died on March 3nd in a helicopter explosion while exploring Kenya with high school friends. He made his home in Colorado Springs.Kyle was born to Ann Forti and Randy Sprague in Madison, Wisconsin. He liked to say that he spent the first formative years of his life "shaped by strong women"; his mother, his grandmother, Mary Lichtie, and his Aunt Lisa Rossman. Ann remarried and her husband, John Scott Forti, joyfully joined her in raising Kyle from age two, folding him into his expansive and lively family in California. Kyle claimed California as his homeland. At the age of sixteen, Hope Nowak learned about a boy named Kyle, renowned in the national scene of homeschool speech and debate, and reeled him into long email conversations about politics, Christian apologetics, and "living the abundant life". They shared daily conversations, growing closer as they dated long distance through college, and married on Kyle's graduation day.In their marriage, Kyle partnered with Hope to build a home where love is evident and shared. They fostered four children together, advocated for dozens of children in (or at risk for) foster care, and often welcomed their own siblings and friends to live with them through the struggles of young adulthood. He leaves behind his wife, Hope Elizabeth (Nowak) Forti; his five year old son, Maximus; two especially beloved foster sons, Xavier Donovan Greywolf and Prince Jaramiah; and a baby to be born in November. He is survived by his parents, Ann (Mannebach) Forti and John Scott Forti; his father, Randy Sprague; grandmother, Mary Lichtie; grandmother, Martha (Goding) Forti; grandfather, William Forti; brothers, Joshua, Joe and Russell; and sisters, Rebekah, Kristen, Promise and Autumn; in addition to hundreds of extended family members and dearly loved friends. Please join the family for a public Memorial Service at Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 601 North Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 4:00PM.
