Over 55 years ago, D'Esta walked into my Mother's beauty salon in Manitou with her mother Mary (w ho I adored too), and I thought she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Ah D you will truly be missed my friend. I have so many wonderful memories of the three of us-you, me and Sally. The many trips to Manitou just to hang out; going to pow wows together; getting matching rings to remind us of our friendship no matter where we were in life and my favorite-our tattoos. D'Esta was a very sweet and kind person.....the type of person who made you immediately feel comfortable and "included". I had the pleasure of finally meeting her in 2015 , while planning for the 50th high school reunion. My hubby Steve Stanton has known her since elementary school, and I've been listening to the stories of D'Esta, thru Steve, for about 40 years! She was everything he told me.....fun loving, kind, assertive, and a beautiful soul. I'll remember the Leadville train excursion, the many, many restaurant get togethers, the FireFall concerts, the 50th weekend activities, and the Wheeler get togethers....sooooo many to mention! You were a gem D'Esta......we will miss you dearly.

Momma, I am so saddened to hear of your passing. I remember when you were at Wasson when I was a student there. I met Josh at Patrick Henry Elementary in the 3rd grade. We instantly became best friends. I remember my first time spending the night at his house, meeting Dani and D'Esta (she did not like me using "Mrs."). She was so gentle and loving. I will never forget my surprise birthday party she had for me, when I turned 9. Growing up in a military family, the moving can be heartbreaking at times; D'Esta assured me she'd always be in the same place when I returned. I physically was able to see her 30 years ago, and was planning a trip to surprise her. I procrastinated and thought that I had time. I will continue to carry a family portrait in my wallet like I have for the last 30 years! She was truly an Angel! Rest Well Mom!! Love you Dani & Josh!!!

D'Esta was such a warm loving spirit! Always smiling and full of hugs. She made time to always acknowledge a person with a huge smile or wave, even if she couldn't come over to a person at that very moment, she made sure to catch up with us as young adults in the school hallways. We always mattered to her rain or shine. I love you Ms. D'Esta, and I will miss you so much. How blessed I feel that not only has she watched me grow up from my young teens into a woman that has two beautiful girls of my own and whom she has met and watched grow.
