Obituary of Betty Louise Sneed
Betty Louise (Dyer) Sneed, 93, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed May 3, 2019.Betty was born to Charles and Olive (Eastman) Dyer on March 2, 1926 in Gainesville, Texas. She grew up in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. While managing a 7-11 store in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Betty met Robert Sneed. They married October 10, 1970 and moved to Colorado Springs in 1972 where they started the Mayfield Electrical Contracting Company. Bob ran the company and Betty kept the home filled with a menagerie of pets, especially miniature Schnauzers. After Bob passed away in 1995, Betty (at the age of 70 years old) delivered pizzas to help pass the time. Betty's skills learned with her mother at their dressmaking boutique in Oklahoma and her experience with high end clothing sales came in handy when she started a new career at Dillard's in the Citadel Mall. Betty outsold everyone. Of course, Betty's own love of clothes knew no bounds as she was always impeccably dressed including matching bling.Betty met Albrecht "Al" Haug in 1996 and they married March 20, 2002. As she often said, "I chased him until he caught me." They spent several wonderful years together and loved to travel, including a trip to Germany. Betty loved Al very much and took care of him during his last years. Betty lived independently up until 2015 when she moved into Winslow Court and then in 2017 to Sunny Vista, always making friends and brightening everyone's days. Betty enjoyed being a Red Hat Lady and was a member of the Red Hat Classy Lassies. Betty was a fierce BINGO player, Bridge player, and loved to entertain. Her love of life was infectious. Betty was an important part of the Sunny Vista Living Center community and often served as an encourager to other residents and staff as well. Betty was a member of Rustic Hills Baptist Church. Her faith in God grew with her age. At the age of 91 Betty was baptized as a testimony of her faith. Betty trusted that God had a purpose for putting her in a particular place at a given time and sought to be a light in the lives of others. She leaves as her legacy many who loved her like a mom: Karen (Rob) Tayne, Mary (Doug) Brayton, Steffanie (Mike) Balog, and Marina (Gene) Krull. She also leaves to cherish her memory five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews. Her family remembers her as a loving, wise, compassionate and spirited woman who thoroughly enjoyed life and lived each day to the fullest.Betty is preceded in death by her second husband, Al Haug; first husband, Robert Sneed; stepson, Jerry Sneed; and her cherished cousin, Cathy Hamlett.
