Obituary of MSgt John "Jack" Edward Cahill, USAF,
John "Jack" Edward Cahill died after a long illness Friday, May 24, 2019 at his home in Guffey, Colorado.He was born December 30, 1927 to Francis and Helen (Duncan) Cahill at Lutheran Hospital in the Bronx, New York.Known as Jack, he was a retired twenty-year veteran of the United States Air Force. His service included post-World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. A highlight of his distinguished military career was as a member of the Commandant of Cadets staff, United States Air Force Academy at its inception in 1955, when it was located at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. He remained on an extended tour of duty for eight and a half years. It was at this time that Jack chose Colorado for his permanent home.He was a graduate of Regis University, Denver, Colorado. He held management positions in the field of creative audio-visual services for an additional seventeen years with the Denver Chamber of Commerce, First National Bank of Denver, and the Keebler Company, Denver Bakery. He then served as a member of Regis University faculty for six and a half years as Adult Learner Specialist in the Regis Career Education Program.When he finally retired, Jack became an avid photographer, specializing in wildlife and nature. He also authored the book "West of the Peak, a Potpourri of Historical Fact, Nostalgia, Myth & Legend," with revenue from sales benefiting the Guffey Community Charter School.Jack is survived by his wife of fifty years, Helen Cahill; son, Kevin Cahill of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Cristie (Paul) Crocitto of Summerville, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Brandy Johnson and Derek Johnson; and one great-grandchild, Bynlee Johnson.Graveside Service, 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 11, 2019, United States Air Force Academy Cemetery Pavilion, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado 80841.Memorial contributions in Jack's memory may be made to The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street Northwest, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037, www.humanesociety.org.
