Obituary of Col. Willard "Chris" Merion Christenson, Army,

On Saturday, June 22, 2019, Willard "Chris" Christenson, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 83.Chris was born August 31, 1935 in Union, Nebraska to Andrew and Esther Christenson. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated in 1957. On April 18, 1959, he married Phyllis Roll Christenson. They raised one son, Bill; and two daughters, Karina and Rachael.Chris had a passion for photography, travel, art, music and literature. He had the opportunity to enjoy these in his retirement. Chris retired from the United States Army after 27 years of service to our country. He then worked for another 27 years at the Institute for Defense Analysis while trying to make the world a safer place for our soldiers.Chris was preceded in death by his father, Andrew; and his mother, Esther. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his three children, Bill, Karina (Michael), and Rachel (Ian); his grandchildren, Bill Jr., Justin, Sean Michael, Rob, Brooke, Madison, Tristan and Rosie; and his brother, Larry (Stephanie).Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Friday, June 28, 2019, Center for Spiritual Living, 5075 Flintridge Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
