Obituary of Maureen Mary Forehan

Maureen M. Forehan passed away on July 20, 2019. Maureen was born on May 5, 1949 in Saint Cloud, Minnesota to Thomas P. and Lorraine (Landwehr) Maloney. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 1968. She moved to Goldsboro, North Carolina where she met David Forehan whom she married on June 26, 1976 in Garden of the Gods. She had a long career with Base Supply at Peterson Air Force Base and the U.S. Air Force Academy. We must say goodbye, for now. She fought, and beat cancer in 2010. However, the cancer returned almost two years ago. She was never the type of person to do anything on other people's terms, but after almost two years of fighting, the cancer unfortunately spread and won.Maureen was an amazing person who could make friends everywhere she went with her uncanny ability to strike up a conversation with anybody. She loved classic tractors, and the Galloping Goose line of trains. She shared her passion for fabric crafts with her daughter and grandsons. She loved touring Colorado with her husband on his motorcycle, and in his old Dodge Town Wagon he has been restoring. She was an amazing wife, a stern and loving mother and mother-in-law, a stellar aunt and great-aunt, a wonderful sister, and above all an irreplaceable grandmother. She ensured her husband would never starve at work, and was always willing to talk - whether socially or just to keep you awake while driving - no matter what time of day or night. Maureen loved every minute she got to spend with her grandkids, and helped them with many sewing projects. When her mother passed, she assumed the role as an ear to talk and vent for her brothers and sisters. She always placed others before herself, even to the end. Maureen is survived by her husband, David F. Forehan; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Daniel Haas; grandsons, Benjamin, Michael and Jonathon Haas; siblings, Peggy (Larry) Goodger, Michael (Betsy) Maloney, Patrick Maloney, Molly Mullins and Reverend Bridget Maloney; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy in people's thoughts, hearts, and memories. She will be forever missed. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Maureen's memory go to the Ellicott Fire Protection District as this was near and dear to her heart. 72 North Ellicott Highway, Calhan, Colorado 80808.Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Friday, July 26, 2019, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.Inurnment, at a later date, Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
