Obituary of Doris Mary Albin

Doris M. Albin, 95, passed away August 18, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born and raised in Nebraska where she lived with her parents and then married her high school sweetheart, Gerald R. Savage.She was preceded in death by Gerald, her husband and father of their children. Gerald passed in 1969 leaving Doris a single parent with five children living at home. Doris later married George E. Albin he passed in 1993. Her dear sister, LaVerne Evans, preceded her in death earlier this year.Doris was a strong successful businesswoman building three businesses over the years to support and maintain her family's life. She worked into her late eighties as a Mary Kay Sales Director. She was the type of woman that never gave up. It was not unusual to see her mowing the yard on a hot summer day. She lived life to the fullest and absolutely adored her family and friends. She planned many family events and meals feeding 25 to 35 people at a time. It was second nature to her, and she loved every minute of those events. Her children and grandchildren knew they could stop by anytime to share a cold Dr. Pepper and a chocolate bar. Life at mom's/grandma's house was comfortable and inviting, she warmed the room with her love and caring attitude.In recent years, you could find her smiling at the meals in her retirement community. Everyone there would always mention that was what they loved about Doris, her sweet smile and positive attitude. The last six weeks of her life she spent at a full care facility in Colorado Springs.Doris was loved and will be missed by many.Doris is survived and lovingly remembered by her five children, Toni (Craig) McElroy, Kathy (Harry) Walsh, Jerri Wilhite, Bill (Kathy) Savage and Dori (Craig) Pappas; thirteen grandchildren, Melinda Crown, Jerry Savage, Jason Wilhite, Michael Walsh, Chris McElroy, David Savage, Doriann Dumler, Cassandra Sousa, Dan Savage, Rebecca Walsh, Blake Pappas, Jimmy Walsh and Clint Pappas; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Saturday, August 24, 2019, The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.Memorial contributions in Doris' memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Food Allergy Research and Education.
