Obituary of Phyllis Elaine Singh
"His Eye is on the Sparrow and I Know He Watches Me"Phyllis Elaine (Drewes) Singh of Colorado Springs, Colorado, age 76, died peacefully at home on September 19, 2019 of natural causes. She was surrounded by friends and family.Phyllis was born August 12, 1943 in Saint Peter, Illinois. Her father was Frederick George Drewes and her mother Nora Augusta (Jasper) Drewes. Her brother is Gerald Laverne Drewes and sister Kathy Ann Drewes. She graduated from LaGrove High School in Farina, Illinois May 1961. After graduation she moved to Burlington, Iowa to pursue a career in hair design. Her cousin, Janet Oertwig, accompanied her. In Burlington she met Larry Beaty, and they were married June 15, 1968. Her son, Scott Allen Beaty, was born December 3, 1968; followed by Christopher Lee Beaty born September 1, 1974. Phyllis and her sons moved back to Saint Peter in 1978 in part to help care for her ailing mother. In the summer of 1984, in order to pursue better opportunities, she moved the family to the Colorado Springs area. By now the family also included a poodle mix named Puddles. Her career in Colorado started at Current, Inc. and continued with Checks Unlimited where she remained for a total of over thirty years. In that time, her duties included customer service representative, order processing, IT assistance, data analyst and bank coordinator. Her home was the center of her life. Gardening was her favorite hobby. Her life revolved around her family. She always hosted the holiday dinners. It was always Christmas Eve at Phyllis's. She always tried to avoid being photographed, at times she was as elusive as Big Foot. However, despite her best efforts, there are many great pictures of her to remind us of all the fun times. Eventually, unfortunately, her beloved Puddles crossed to the Rainbow Bridge. She then rescued an Australian Shepard mix named Mattie. This dog would become her canine soul mate. Later, she rescued a very opinionated Shih Tzu named Robyn who loved escaping and running to the neighbors. She said that was her daily exercise. Scott and Chris both grew up and moved away to start their own lives. It was then that she met and married her husband, Lochie, January 29,1999. He had three younger children, Sunny, Ginni and Money. She now had a second family to raise and care for and she loved every minute of it.Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Frederick George Drewes, January 3, 1977; mother, Nora Augusta (Jasper) Drewes, June 21,1978; and sister-in-law, Caroline Sue (Gelsinger) Drewes, May 3, 2016. Waiting patiently for her at the Rainbow Bridge, Puddles, Mattie and Robyn.
