Obituary of Walter Lomax "Max" Tucker

Walter Lomax Tucker, 83, died October 2, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Lomax was born to Mr. Pearl and Bernice (Wright) Tucker on December 27, 1935 in Osage County near Ralston, Oklahoma. As a young teenager, Lomax visited Colorado and fell in love with the mountains. The day after graduation from Ponca City High School in 1955, he left for Colorado Springs. He met and married Billie Ann Helton in July 1956 and they raised two children in Colorado. �Lomax worked as a mechanic and then became a master welder.�He retired from Lafarge in Colorado Springs.�He worked on many area projects including the Tesla Hydropower Plant at the Air Force Academy.�After retirement he worked as a private contractor.� Lomax enjoyed riding ATV's in the mountains with family members and friends. On one trip to Mt. Elbert he was surveying the landscape and said, "Yep, riding ATV's could be my midlife crisis". Anyone who knew Max would remember that he could fix anything with baling wire. �He will be greatly missed by family and friends. ��Lomax is survived by his wife, Billie Ann (Helton) Tucker; two children, Richard (Lisa) and Pamela (George) Cusic; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.�He is also survived by his sister, Sonya (Tucker) Richardson.Memorial contributions in Lomax's memory may be made to The American Lung Association, (www.lung.org)Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Friday, October 11, 2019, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
