Obituary of Rev. Melvin Ray Turpin

Melvin Ray Turpin, 74, died October 17, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.He was born October 13, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas.Melvin was a member of Universal Ministries of Truth and was a licensed minister with United Pentecostal Church International.Mel loved his God and always put Him first in his life. He loved his family and cherished every moment with them. He enjoyed his grandchildren most of all. He was always putting others above himself. We call him the John Wayne of Pentecost. Mel was stern when needed, but always loving and caring for others. His passion was ministry, but he loved to fish, hunt, and enjoyed his horses. He will be missed by all. Mel was preceded in death by his parents, R.J. and Wilda Turpin; sister, Cheryl Wilson; brother, Roland Wayne Turpin; and nephew, Tony Ray Bryant.Mel is survived by his wife, Sandy Turpin; daughter, Rhonda (Scott) Daily; son, Pastor Marney (Sharon) Turpin; grandchildren, Codye and Corye Daily, Dustin and Mashella Turpin; niece, Christy Herrera; nephews, Colton and Carson Herrera; and many he called sons and daughters by friendships.Visitation, 6:00PM-8:00PM, Wednesday, October 23, 2019, The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.Funeral Service, 11:00AM, Thursday, October 24, 2019, Universal Ministries of Truth, 2040 Jet Wing Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80916.
