Obituary of Dolores "Dee" Katreeb

Dolores "Dee" Katreeb Loest, age 88, passed away in her mountain home in Florissant, Colorado on Saturday, October 26, 2019. Born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Mary and Anthony Gesualdi, she graduated from Trinity High School in 1948. She raised two children, Susan Katreeb of Colorado and Daniel Katreeb (dec'd), with her first husband, Robert Katreeb (dec'd). Together, they moved to Downey, California where Dee worked in the trucking industry while raising her family and caring for her parents. Dee's passion for life and the outdoors took her on many adventures across the southwest. She was active in the Bocci Club, bowling leagues and many other local activities.In 2001, she married Roger Loest and moved to Colorado where she continued her outdoor explorations in gems, rocks and minerals. They traveled extensively with their rock business, called Ac'cent on Rocks. Both were members of the Lake George Gem & Mineral Club and gifted numerous collections to the local history museum. Dee was passionately involved in the Velvet Hills Chorus Sweet Adelines of Colorado Springs, traveling the USA for competitions through 2016. She delighted in the fun of the Ute Pass Social Club as a founding member and reveled in the activities of the Gold Camp Victorian Society. She also was an active contributor to Helping Hands and volunteered for many worthwhile causes in our local community. In addition to her daughter, Susan, Dee is survived by her brother, Jim (Marlene) Gesualdi of California. Her siblings, Grace McQuade and Denny Gesualdi, preceded her in death along with her parents; her son; her ex-husband, Bob; and her late husband, Roger Loest. She leaves many good friends and memories in Colorado, Pennsylvania and California.There will be no funeral service or viewing. The family plans a Celebration of Life at her home over the Christmas holiday. Dee's cremated remains will be inurned at Forest Lawn Gardens in Pennsylvania at a later date.
