Obituary of Kenneth Elvin Worrell

Kenneth Elvin Worrell, 93, died November 30, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on November 25, 1926 in Modesto, California on Thanksgiving Day to Elvin and Theo (Simms) Worrell. He was raised on a family owned fruit ranch near the small town of Ceres, California where he learned hard work, honesty, and was raised in the church. After completing high school, he entered the armed services, the United States Army Air Corp. He took teletype training and served nearly two years before being discharged in January 1947.While in the Army Air Corp, he married his high school sweetheart, Gladys Hackett on January 3, 1946. They were married fifty-seven years when she passed away in 2001. They had five children; Beth, Rick, Carol, John, and Kris, as well as, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.After being discharged, he attended San Francisco State University where he received his BA degree and teaching credential. He taught junior high for twenty-eight years and was loved by all his students. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor. Kenneth took an early retirement due to a series of spinal operations.Upon retiring, he turned to writing short stories, several novels, and over a 1000 poems, for which he was published and received awards. Kenneth also enjoyed building small replicas and had built a small village entirely by hand.He found God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are necessary for a stable, peaceful life filled with joy and love. It is only through the Trinity, studying the Bible, and reading works by Christian authors, that he could function in this sin-filled world. It is amazing what prayer in Jesus' Name can accomplishif one prays in God's Name.He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Worrell; his mother and father.Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Saturday, December 14, 2019, Heartbeat Ministries, 3958 North Academy Boulevard, Suite 117, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917.
