Obituary of Patricia Ruth Engel

Patricia "Pat" Ruth (King) Engel passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2019 surrounded by her loving children. She was born on December 31, 1927 in Huron, South Dakota to Paul and Rosalie King, the youngest of four children. She grew up on the family farm in Dowling, South Dakota. Patricia received her registered nurse degree from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1949. She worked as a nurse in Sioux Falls and Denver. Patricia and Don Engel were married on October 1954 and lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Littleton, Colorado and Colorado Springs, Colorado. They raised eight children together. Patricia enjoyed traveling both at home and abroad, cooking, gardening, weaving, coloring, reading, sewing and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers; and her husband. Patricia is survived by her children, Mary Martineau, Margaret (Peter) Bryant, John (Adella) Engel, Catherine (Bob) Bartola, Theresa (Tim) Wagner, Monica Engel and Mike (Lisa) Engel; along with ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Patricia was a loving wife and mother. She will be missed greatly and remembered always. We pray that God in His infinite mercy will grant her eternal rest in His Heavenly Kingdom.
