Obituary of Major Robert "Bob" Michael Whitney, USAF
Robert Whitney, affectionately known as "Bob", lost his fight to depression on January 8, 2020, at the age of 33 near his home in Bellevue, Nebraska.Bob was born in South Lake Tahoe, California, on October 11, 1986, to Mike and J. Whitney. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2008 with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked as an Intelligence Officer for the United States Air Force. On January 29, 2011, he joyfully married Shawna in San Angelo, Texas. In 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2019 respectively, he welcomed his beautiful sons and daughters, who were the most important part of his life.Bob was first and foremost a man of God. He was a devoted husband and father, an adored son and brother, and a decorated Air Force Officer. Bob was an avid amateur golfer, claiming base championship titles on three occasions. His infectious smile always lit up a room. Bob was known for his humble personality and always having the desire to serve and help others. Bob was very active in every church community he was a part of, especially the community at Emmaus Bible Church in Omaha. Bob will forever be remembered for his positive outlook on life and ability to lift up everyone around him.Bob is preceded in death by father-in-law, Gary Tanner; grandparents, Robert G. and Frances E. Whitney and Robert J. and Kathrina M. Peck.He is survived by wife, Shawna; children, Levi (7), Audrey (4), Clara (3) and Zebulon (1); parents, Mike and J.; brother, Tom (Jessica) Whitney; niece and nephews, Skyler, Zoey and Owen; mother-in-law, Laury Tanner; brothers-in-law Brandon and Trenton Hale; aunts and uncles, Victoria Abel, James Peck, Karen (Richard) Poso and Richard (Mary Lynne) Peck.He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.Graveside Service, 10:00AM, Friday, January 17, 2020, United States Air Force Academy Cemetery, 2168 Field House Drive, Air Force Academy, Colorado 80841.
